The Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management celebrated Sri Lankan cultural values by getting students of the Academy involved in organizing the New Year Festival in the month of April back in 2015. The staff and students organized the games, food and the other cultural rituals accordingly and created a colourful day in sarongs, sarees and other costumes. The artwork, decorations and food were organized by the students themselves. To celebrate Avurudu in 2016, CAHM has organized a festival on the 8th of April at the campus itself. It is sure to be a successful event as the students of the Academy are talented, and has the continuous support of their lecturers and the CEO – Mr. Steven Bradie-Miles.
CAHM encourages these activities as a part of the curriculum in order to enhance team spirit, and to help students understand leadership values and other traits of being a part of the Hospitality, Tourism, Foods or Events industry. Organizing such events and giving these students experience in working under pressure to achieve their goals and said tasks will produce “Career Ready” graduates. At the Academy, we believe in incorporating the “fun” element, to make their campus life interesting and enjoyable.
